Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Infusion Services, the Assistant Manager of Business Operations is responsible for the overall daily operations of the insurance/billing, accounting, contract management, and receptionist/scheduling functions of the department.
Provides safe, effective, fiscally responsible direction, support and development of staff.
In coordination with the Department Director, is responsible for hiring, coaching, and of evaluation of staff.
Assists the Department Director with counseling, discipline, and termination of staff.
Essential Functions:
Fiscal Management/Resource Utilization:
o Demonstrates effective control of resources and maintains appropriate monitoring systems.
o Identifies and implements change in systems as needed to increase productivity, promote cost containment, and enhance patient care and safety.
o Facilitates implementation of new technology to provide effective collection of receivables while maximizing productivity.
o Remains current regarding all reimbursement, collections and billing procedures including charge posting, billing, tracing, collection, and remittance advises and charge master.
Human Resources Management:
o Demonstrates leadership ability by facilitating individual and team development.
Removes roadblocks to improve employee and SJHS-HC performance.
Motivates, challenges and develops employees.
o Assures that performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, feedback, and discipline are conducted in concert with policies, values and standards.
o Assures provision of department meetings for all staff to meet the needs of the department and regulatory requirements.
QUALITY ASSURANCE o Monitors activities, identifies trends, and takes actions which assess and improve the department's performance.
Maintains appropriate quality control measures for outstanding accounts.
o Assures safe environment for customers and others.
Identifies and takes effective action when necessary to assure safety standards are met.
o Coordinates and integrates services within the department and with other departments in order to assure that customer needs are met.
Skills:
Excellent written, verbal and listening communications skills.
Ability to prioritize, make sound decisions, and lead a team to successful completion of projects/tasks.
Minimum Position

Experience:
2 years of experience in a health care setting with responsibility for charge master, coding, insurance and billing.
